Staying Safe on Bonfire Night
Have an enjoyable night but keep safe – that’s the message from Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service, South Tyneside Council and Northumbria Police this year.
The run up to Bonfire Night is one of the busiest times for the emergency services. Illegal bonfires on fields and housing estates can be very dangerous, as the materials used to make them (such asrubbish and old furniture) are often highly flammable.
If you're celebrating Bonfire Night this year, please be sure to attend a professionally organised display and report any illegal bonfires to the council. That way, we can all have a safe and enjoyable Bonfire Night!
Tips for a safe on Bonfire Night:
Attend an organised display (rather than having your own)
Remember: alcohol and fireworks don’t mix!
Keep pets indoors
To help you keep safe and warm during the darker nights, Services for young people have organised some special indoor activities for you, including:
FREE 10 pin bowling tournament
Halloween themed activity nights - with FREE pizza!
