Evaluating access in relation to young people with disabilities

Steven Florence contracted Meningitis when he was 4 losing 3 limbs - stephen was assessing Thurston Outdoor Centre in relating to canoeing activities, walking, caving, swimming and access to and from the building.
A full written report is available upon request.
Members used HEAR BY RIGHT standards to evaluate service provision.
Steven is also the West Shields Representative for the Young People's Parliament project.

30 young people travelled the Thurston Outdoor Centre in the Lake District to work through their accreditation course - Participation in Action and to decide on what their logo/identify should be.
The young people on the project are from South TYneside, Gateshead and Durham Council Youth Services.
Youth Assessors from South Tyneside Council will start their assessments in July 2008 grading level of services Bronze Silver or Gold awards of service.
This is a new innovative project for South Tyneside with 12 young people aged 14 - 19 representing the borough and ensuring that young people receive an excellent level of service for places to go and things to do.
