Voting:

Voting is one of the most important rights a person has. The people we choose to represent us will be making decisions on our behalf, so it is really important to know how to become registered as a voter as soon as you are seventeen.

  • If you register at 17, as soon as you are 18, you will be able to vote and you will receive the relevant information
  • If you wait until you are 18, you will still need to register with the council to vote
  • There is help available if you will find it difficult to cast your vote.

For further details please call free on 0800 093 2660.

If you are 16 or 17 at the moment, you're entitled to add your name on to the electoral register now.

Voter registration forms have been delivered to every home in South Tyneside. Make sure you're registered to vote
