Getting Involved:

Volunteering

Youth Action Volunteers:

Youth Action Volunteers is a unique organisation within South Tyneside and is open to all 13 – 25 year olds in the Borough. It aims to promote the personal and social development of young people through Voluntary involvement in their local community.

Y.A.V is not only a project which offers opportunities for voluntary action, but offers a range of youth work experiences for young people.

There is an opportunity to meet other volunteers and workers. We meet to socialise, plan events, discuss issues and basically have fun.

The social aspect of Y.A.V is equally as important as the volunteering role and both work hand in hand. We organise a wide range of events which are available to all volunteers.

These include:

  • Training in first Aid and IT
  • Outdoor activities
  • Residentials
  • Youth Exchanges
  • Social Events.

Volunteering Placements can include:

  • Working with Children
  • Environmental work
  • Coaching sport and dance
  • Help in charity Shops
  • Something else which you want to do.

Volunteering is directly linked to the young person’s personal interests which they you should find INTERESTING, REWARDING and FUN.

It's about you experiencing volunteering and deciding its OK to get involved.
