The Council is made up of 54 councillors elected by the people who live in their ‘ward’ area. Councillors listen to local peoples’ views and make sure that the council takes these views into consideration when they make decisions.
Council meetings are open to all members of the public. The council has a cabinet, with a Leader, Deputy Leader and eight other ‘lead members’
The council has a Mayor, who represents the council at events and is chairperson at council meetings.
