Bullying is when a person or group of people hurt someone on purpose.
Bullying is behaviour that is:
- Harmful, done by one person or a group
- Deliberate, and happens more than once
- Done by someone more powerful, making the bullied person feel weak.
Bullying can be emotional or physically harmful behaviour. It can include any of the following:
- Name calling, and picking on people
- Making rude comments and threats
- Kicking, hitting, and pushing
- Taking and damaging belongings
- Gossiping and spreading hurtful lies and rumours
- Leaving people out
These can be face-to-face, through other people, or through text messages and emails.
Bullying can happen at school, in the street or park, or in a relationship.
What bullying isn't:
- Falling out with people
- Short arguments and fights
- Friends breaking up
- Occasional teasing
