Bullying

What is bullying?

Bullying is when a person or group of people hurt someone on purpose.

 

 

Bullying is behaviour that is:

 

  • Harmful, done by one person or a group
  • Deliberate, and happens more than once
  • Done by someone more powerful, making the bullied person feel weak.

 

Bullying can be emotional or physically harmful behaviour. It can include any of the following:

 

  • Name calling, and picking on people
  • Making rude comments and threats
  • Kicking, hitting, and pushing
  • Taking and damaging belongings
  • Gossiping and spreading hurtful lies and rumours
  • Leaving people out

 

These can be face-to-face, through other people, or through text messages and emails.

 

Bullying can happen at school, in the street or park, or in a relationship.

 

What bullying isn't:

 

  • Falling out with people
  • Short arguments and fights
  • Friends breaking up
  • Occasional teasing
