
There are a number of ways in which organisations recruit. Consider the list below:
Applying for jobs
Q. What do you have to do to apply?
A. You may be asked to apply for a job in one of the following ways:
Q. Do you have the qualifications required?
A. e.g. if a company requests 4 GCSE’s this will be the minimum requirement.
Q. Do you have the skills required?
A. Be positive. The advert will outline the ‘perfect’ person – even if you don’t have all of the skills, concentrate on those you do have.
Q. What does the company do?
A. Find out as much background as possible. e.g. company size, product manufactured, services provided. This information may be available on the internet, in local libraries etc.
Q. Where is the company based?
A. Make sure you can get there – If you don’t have access to a car, is it on a regular bus route?
Q. Permanent or Temporary / Full or Part Time?
A. Does this mater to you? e.g. do you have financial of family commitments?
Q. Apply in plenty of time to meet the deadline
A. Allow for delays with the postal service. If it’s late, it will be immediately discarded.
Q. Do exactly what your instructed to do
A. e.g. if you are asked for a CV, provide a CV; if you’re told to complete the application form, don’t send a CV in its place.
